Driver registration

When setting up an account the account owner has the option to ‘Set up driver now’ or ‘Skip this bit’

Could we please disable the ‘Skip this bit’ option as this causes a lot of issues, for example; If an account is set up but no driver, the account is charged the £25 opening fee, however there is no driver, this can have the following effects:

  • Driver never continues with set up, therefore recalls payment with their bank as they did not set up account – we have no evidence to send to Stripe to back this up, therefore the member always gets the call back and we get charged £15 admin fee from Stripe
  • Driver attempts to continue, however, for one reason or another is declined – they then need money refunding – additional administration for Customer service, or if CS forget to create refund, the same can happen as above, member will recall funds and we get charged…

I just don’t think the Skip this step adds much, however it creates issues and expense therefore I would only like an account to be charged once the account has been fully set up and a driver successfully added to account

    Admin response

    Hi there,

We have plans to enable payment authorization during initial account creation, followed by capture once a driver profile is created/approved within 7 days. In addition we could also consider only showing accounts for approval if they have at least one pending driver application - this should mitigate the issues you are experiencing by only allowing accounts to be verified (and charged) once a driver profile has been created and linked to the account.

That would be great and would resolve this issue :)

    Thanks!
